How to easily hit 10,000 steps in winter: this is my plan

Can you feel it too? The days are getting shorter, the air smells like autumn, and I can feel it: winter is coming. And while I love cozy sweaters and candlelight, I also know that my daily 10,000 steps suddenly become a challenge. But this winter I've decided to do things differently — want to read along and see what my plan is?

From guest blogger Danielle of HappyAge.

Summer person

See, I love summer because in summer everything just happens naturally. Little bike rides, walks on the beach, a quick stroll after dinner. But as soon as it turns cold and dark, I notice the sofa becomes a magnet. And those menopause kilos? They're lurking, just waiting.

Menopause kilos

Well, what can I say about that; my metabolism is slow... moving a lot during menopause is really important to get your engine running again, and that can't happen without exercise. Women going through menopause need a different diet and exercise routine, that much is clear to me.

Plan of action

And then winter comes creeping around the corner again. For me, that's often a period of apathetic behavior under a blanket with a bowl of chips. This year I'm doing it differently. My secret weapon is already standing by: the treadmill from Sportshero.nl. I can picture it already, as soon as I'm done eating I just put on a good show and start walking. No wet shoes, no thick coat, just me, the treadmill and my favorite series. It sounds like wonderfully relaxing me-time.

My own time and pace

The great thing is that I can completely choose my own pace. Walking outside with a friend is of course a lot of fun, but you do have to accommodate each other. And I don't want to do that anymore, so sometimes I stroll along calmly with a podcast in my ears, other times I go a bit faster for a mini workout.

Effortless 10,000 steps, easy peasy

Before I know it, another episode has passed and the counter is happily heading towards 10,000 steps. I can already feel this is going to be my saving grace. No winter blues, more energy, and those menopause kilos won't stand a chance. Let winter come, I'm ready for it. And if you're now thinking; hey, this is something for me, I want a treadmill like that for home too, then I can definitely make you happy — with the discount code Danielle15 you'll get a nice discount. So what are you waiting for 🙂 let's go girls

I'm really curious — how do you make sure you hit your 10,000 steps during the dark months?

Love, Danielle
